Here's how our Adaptive Sports Fest went last year ...

Once again we are pleased to announce our 11th Annual Adaptive Sports Fest on
Saturday, September 21, 2013 had a fantastic turn out - we were blessed with a clear & sunny day after the wicked heavy rain on Friday that wouldn't stop for even a second finally came to a halt in the early Saturday morning hours.

More than 185 smiling faces lined up for our delicious hamburger and hotdog lunch grilled up by the Williams Creek Crappie Club. Mayor Harold Wells proclaimed the day POWER Day in Gladewater and we couldn't be happier! Several water skiers got to ski twice with shorter waiting lists than normal and that was a plus considering this was the last water ski clinic of the year. Our DJ Pastor Joe Chase of the North Loop Church of Christ in Gladewater had a flavorful variety of tunes playing all day right next to our face painting & friendship bracelet craft activity tables that were buzzing with participants non-stop. The kayak clinic had a number of newcomers and the air rifles are always a hit! Big bear hugs  to C & R Medical Supplies for donating their air rifles and mini golf supplies on top of the bounce houses and large canopies - we will put it all to good use! The
Longview Ambucs brought demonstration AmTrykes again - with a few participants now hoping to get their own AmTrykes once their evaluations and documentation needed are completed! Yay for fun therapeutic recreation & independence!!! The article published by Longview News Journal can be seen here!

We want to thank all of the businesses that sponsored our Sports Fest this year (listed on right) and previous years. Its success depends greatly on the monetary & in-kind donations we receive and we are exceptionally grateful for the friendships that have developed with many of our sponsors throughout the years. Furthermore, the hundreds of individuals and groups of volunteers that have come together for this event that include Longview Ambucs chapters, Kilgore College Physical Therapist Assistance Program &
the International ALERT Academy have proven over and over to be the key to victory and progress and we are forever thankful
to each of you.  ~Judie Moffett, Executive Directo
